A senior police officer with a Datuk title was arrested by the MACC for allegedly asking for and receiving a bribe of RM103,000, last August.

According to a Utusan Malaysia report, the 56-year-old suspect was detained about 7.10pm today when he was having his statement taken at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

A source said the suspect is believed to have asked for the bribe, and received the cash, as an inducement to not act against a police corporal, who in turn, was implicated in taking bribes to reduce police fines.

The senior police officer is expected to be charged at the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning, said the news report.
