Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak today rapped the Pakatan Harapan government's asset declaration initiative saying it only shows the incomes of ministers and MPs.

Speaking in front of about 1,000 supporters at Kuala Lumpur's PWTC today, Najib said the asset declarations should also list assets apart from remuneration adding this should also apply to their children as well.

"Asset declaration? That is only salary. If it is as named, then they should have included the assets owned by their children too.

"If It's just a declaration of salary, we can just obtain those from the Parliament report.

"We want to know how many luxury cars and how many horses they own," Najib said.

The Pekan MP had previously claimed that Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had received 30 horses from someone as a gratification.

During the almost two-hour get-together, the former premier also said that what disappointed him about his GE14 loss was the fact he couldn't complete his National Transformation Programme.

Najib then claimed the cancellation of some projects such as the MRT3 and ECRL by the current government had affected the economic growth of the country.

"If the MRT was to be constructed in KL, the rakyat could spend less. Commuting is much easier, you can keep your car at home.

"There would be less air pollution. Kuala Lumpur would become a livable city. People can do business (near the MRT stations).

I had dedicated a quota of 50 percent for small business operators to comprise of bumiputera and the balance for no- bumiputera. 1Malaysia shops could have run a business there," he said.

'Game changer'

On the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL), he said it was a good project to boost economic growth for locals and wished that the new government would have renegotiated the cost instead of cancelling it.

"ECRL is a game changer. Areas such as Bentong, Mentakab, and Kuala Terengganu would have been developed and the trains would ease traffic congestion during the festive seasons.

"Do you want to wait for 14 hours to arrive in Kelantan?" he asked.

Najib said that those who live in Temerloh could also easily commute to KL using the ECRL.

"Do we want to rely on highways? More cars will result in congestion. This leads us to nowhere," he said.
