Retired Federal Court judge Gopal Sri Ram, who is leading the prosecution against Rosmah Mansor, said they have already handed over 99.9 percent of the relevant documents to the defendant's counsel.

Rosmah's lawyer K Kumaraendran (above) had earlier today requested for one month from the courts to transfer the case to the High Court, saying they were still waiting for the prosecution team to provide one last document, a bank statement.

"(The documents are) 80 percent done," Kumaraendran told the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

"It is 99.9 percent done," Sri Ram replied.

Kumaraendran then said regardless of this, they still needed more time to study the bank statement once they received it.

“May I suggest one month for the next mention and before that day, we will file the application (to transfer),” he told the court.

Judge Azura Alwi granted the request, setting Dec 6 as the next mention date for the case.

Sri Ram said the prosecution had no objection to this but asked the court to ensure the defendant does not file a last-minute application such as on the day before the next mention date.

Kumaraendran assured the court they would file the application to transfer the case to the High Court at least a few days before the next mention date.

“I can assure that we will do so well before Dec 5,” he said.

Documents received

Outside the courtroom, Kumaraendran told reporters the defence team had already received about 600 pages of documents from the prosecution.

On Oct 4, Rosmah, wife of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, was slapped with 17 money-laundering charges.

Twelve of the charges were on deposits totalling RM7.1 million into her personal bank account from 2013 to 2017 and the remaining five were for failing to declare the income.
