Yoursay: Harapan should do away with archaic VVIP treatment

YOURSAY | ‘They are VIPs because we the rakyat put them there...’

Loke accuses Dewan Negara president of flouting KLIA security protocol

Hopeful123: Airports are tight security areas. It must not be made accessible to any Tom, Dick and Harry.

What MIC president S Vigneswaran did is highly improper, and that too in the position as the president of the Senate.

He had put down the honour of the nation by behaving in an uncouth manner, that too in the presence of his family members.

He must face the full brunt of the law and whatever disciplinary action that goes with it. I am sure even those in the opposition parties will condemn his actions.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke, you did a wonderful job. Please check the list of those in possession of such security passes and axe all those who need not be accorded such privileges. It is dangerous if irresponsible people are given VVIP treatment like this.

Anonymous 2327531438397239: Transport Minister Anthony Loke has shown that no one is above the law, especially when it comes to security protocols.

What Vigneswaran did was uncouth and downright abusive. He must be sanctioned and be made to issue a personal public apology to the airport staff on duty for his unruly behaviour.

Clongviews: Good, Loke. Tell off these shameless warlords. On Friday, it was chief warlord Najib Abdul Razak who refused to his rightful place in the dock of the court. Now, Vigneswaran refused to follow security protocol.

We must defend and support the officials manning the VIP areas to prevent abuse. No wonder millions in cash can just get through the VIP areas.

Charge these VIPs for breaking airport security rules and regulations to teach them a lesson.

Another Komentar: Just withdraw Vigneswaran’s VIP pass if he doesn’t apologise for his rudeness and not following security protocols.

Frankly, Harapan should do away with VVIP treatments - it’s a misnomer because it’s bad English and smacks of a Malaysian fixation with arcane feudalism.

Straight Talker: Great work by the transport minister in standing up and defending the airport staff for doing the right thing.

We need more of this work culture to be replicated across other ministries and government departments.

This is what progress looks like.

Vigneswaran under probe for allegedly breaching airport security protocol

Simple Malaysian: It is now time to teach these so-called VIPs a lesson on what is expected of them.

They are VIPs because we the rakyat put them there, and we the rakyat can bring them down in the same breath, as we demonstrated last May.

The whole incident was on camera, let the law take its own path and deal with people like this.

At least MIC has provided an example to all VIPs on "misbehaviour", "abuse", et cetera. This would apply not only to the past government-produced VIPs but also the present ones.

Anonymous 2436471476414726: Way to go for the police. If Vigneswaran is found to be deliberately breaching the regulations, then have him charged in court.

Show that in new Malaysia, the rule of law is supreme, no matter who the offender is. This should act as a deterrent to other so-called VIPs to not throw their weight around.

Jin Kebun: Friends in Australia say the Malaysian authorities and the media have used kid gloves to handle the case.

If this had happened in Australia, Vigneswaran would have been crucified by the media and public opinion. The police and councils Down Under are not afraid to issue speeding, parking, or drink driving tickets to VIPs or VVIPs.

Ministers and even the police chief in Melbourne have received tickets and were fined with demerit points.

No one should be above the law and we must support and encourage our civil servants to perform their duties with fear or favour.

Anonymous_3e21: Rules are rules and what more in the most sensitive place like an international airport.

Vigneswaran has just made things worse for himself by launching an attack on the minister who requested that he apologise.

The authorities must take stern action against someone who trespassed into the sensitive security areas, as the world is paying attention to the effectiveness of our airport security.

Justice: The Transport Ministry should reward their officials who were firm and brave in enforcing the law no matter who breached or broke the law. That is the way to go, Loke.

Defend officials who bravely enforce the law equally and fairly. Please promote those officials up the rank because they have shown an exemplary example to other officials.

The law has to be complied with and enforced, no matter what position one holds. We have already discovered so-called VIPs flouting security protocols to launder money into or outside our country. So we should be vigilant at all times.

This MIC president should set a good example by complying with the law. By all means, charge him in court and let the court decide his fate.
