A strong 7.0 magnitude earthquake occurred near Southern Alaska at 8:29am local time today.

The epicentre of the earthquake was located 2,149km northwest from Vancouver, Canada, with a depth of 61km, according to a statement issued by Malaysian Meteorological Department today.
