'Time for Srikandi Bersatu to help Harapan keep its promises'

BERSATU AGM | Having proven its worth assisting Bersatu's 14th general election campaigns, it is time for the party's Srikandi wing to start helping Pakatan Harapan fulfil its election promises, says its chief Rina Harun.
In her speech to launch the second Srikandi Bersatu second annual general assembly at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre today, Rina urged the 800 delegates present to equip themselves with the necessary skills to face the challenges of being part of the ruling coalition.
"The challenges that we are faced with today are more varied. Acquiring management skills as part of the ruling party is a primary challenge that must be faced.
"Understanding bureaucratic moves – which for years was in the hands of a kleptocratic administration – is a challenge that we have faced since Harapan took over the government."
Rina, the rural and regional development minister, stressed that acquiring the right administrative skills would be key for Srikandi Bersatu members to push for implementation of Harapan's election promises.
Among others, she pointed to Bersatu's role in protecting Malay-Bumiputera interests, including promoting entrepreneurship among the community.
Specifically, Rina said Srikandi Bersatu should strive to push more women SME entrepreneurs to expand their home businesses through online marketing to reach an international customer base.
"With technological advancements on the Internet, women no longer need to live in the city to become 'world level' entrepreneurs," she said, citing examples such as marketing homemade preserves (jeruk petai) abroad.
In his speech to launch Srikandi and Youth wings' AGM last night, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said the party would be devising a new bumiputera agenda to help the Malay-bumiputera economy.
He said although there were many initiatives to help the bumiputera during the BN era, most failed to fulfil their objectives – including institutions such as Felda, Tabung Haji and Mara.
