Two fishermen allegedly robbed at M'sia-Indonesia maritime border

Two local fishermen claim to have been robbed by four armed men in the Malaysia-Indonesia overlapping territorial waters in Laut Hand Rock at 3.50pm yesterday.

Tawau district police chief Fadil Marsus said the two fishermen, aged 31 and 35, from Pulau Bum-Bum, Semporna had gone out fishing on Saturday.

“During the incident, the victims saw a boat with four unknown men heading in their direction,” he said in a statement here today.

When the suspects pulled near, one of them pointed a gun at the victims and ordered the two men to go to the front of the boat so that two of the suspects could come onboard.

Fadil said the two men who boarded the victims' boat seized their mobile phones and their catch before speeding away in their boat in the direction of Sungai Nyamuk in Indonesia.
