Father-and-son combo for Kedah PKR leadership
Kedah PKR will be led by a father-and-son combination, in the form of Johari Abdul as chairperson of the state chapter, and his son Mohammed Firdaus as the state Youth chief.

Firdaus' appointment was announced yesterday by PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, after consulting elected Kedah Youth division leaders and the state chief.
Contacted by Malaysiakini yesterday, Johari denied that his son's appointment was a nepotistic practice.
He explained that when he was attached to the Sungai Petani division, Firdaus was elected as the head of Jerai PKR Youth.
"He won after a fierce battle. I didn't support him. I myself lost the division leadership challenge in Sungai Petani.
"He is under pressure now because he has to perform (as a leader) like his father. I am a no-nonsense man," he said.
Youth chief appointments
In a statement yesterday, Akmal (photo) said that the appointment process for the Youth chiefs of Sarawak and Sabah PKR were yet to be completed.
"I hope all the new state PKR Youth heads will be able to serve well, and ensure that PKR will move forward and implement the reform agenda," Akmal said.
Of the 12 state PKR Youth chiefs appointed so far, nine are elected division Youth heads, while two are division heads.
The only appointee not elected to any party position is Najwan Halimi, who is the Kota Anggerik assemblyperson.
Najwan's bid to head the Shah Alam PKR division during the party polls last year turned unsuccessful.
