PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has urged the party's Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim (photo, above) to respect Pakatan Harapan's consensus with regards to the prime minister's position and the agreed transition.

Anwar's remarks today was made in response to the former PKR Johor chief's recent call for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to step down.

"Our advice has been to respect the Harapan consensus to support Mahathir as prime minister and Anwar as the next prime minister.

"That has always been the consensus," Anwar told reporters after delivering his speech at the National Professional Motivators Convention in Shah Alam.

Anwar said there have also been attempts to sabotage the transition plan although none has succeded to break apart the consensus.

"I think as far as I am concerned, Mahathir is concerned and Pakatan Harapan leaders are concerned, nothing has changed.

"So my advice is, therefore, to refrain from making statements of this nature," he said.

Earlier today, PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali also ticked off Hassan for his statement, stressing that the latter should concentrate on the development agenda of his constituency.

In making the statement on Wednesday, Hassan had claimed that he was doing so because of the polemics happening in the country.

He further claimed that Mahathir seemed to be at a loss now in handling various issues, especially the three Rs - race, religion and royalty.
