CORONAVIRUS | Each Bersatu division will receive RM4,000 worth of aid to help members affected by the Covid-19 crisis.
The party has 189 divisions, meaning the aid would total RM756,000.
"Party president (Muhyiddin Yassin) is honoured to give aid to each division to be distributed to affected members," read a letter signed by Hamzah Zainuddin, whom Muhyiddin recently appointed as secretary-general.
The letter did not state the source of the funds.
The letter was posted by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal on social media yesterday, thanking Muhyiddin for listening to Bersatu Youth's suggestion.
According to the letter, the RM4,000 would be divided into RM2,000 for the main divisions and RM1,000 each for the Women and Youth wings.
The letter suggested that the aid be given to members in the form of necessities worth RM50 such as 5kg of rice, 1kg of sugar, 1kg of flour, rice noodles, a carton of eggs and 1kg of cooking oil.
The letter also urged division leaders to cooperate and ensure that affected members receive the aid.
There is currently a movement control order in force in the country to stop new infections of Covid-19.
The order, which was to expire on March 31, has been extended to April 14.
Muhyiddin, who is also the prime minister, would be announcing an additional economic stimulus this afternoon, which he said would be more comprehensive.
