A sinkhole has swallowed the wall of an apartment complex in the upscale neighbourhood of Taman U Thant, just metres away from the main structure.
According to Kuala Lumpur City Hall, officers were called to the apartment located at 16, Jalan Taman U Thant at 3.35pm.
"Investigation and observation found that a tree and telecommunication pole at the location had collapsed.
"There was also water flowing in the sunken area," it said in a Facebook post.
It said the adjacent road has been cordoned off for public safety and the related agencies have been informed for further action.
"The public is advised not to visit the area and to abide by the signage that has been put up there," it said.
According to Google Earth measurement tool, the sinkhole on the perimeter wall is approximately 15 metres away from the main apartment building.
According to data from The Edge Property, the four-bedroom apartments range from 3,800 sq ft to 5,554 sq ft.
The transacted prices are from RM2.38 million to RM4.5 million and a month's rent can go up to RM15,000.
The real estate portal described the property as "very low-density development targeted exclusively to the upmarket".
The incident came amid heavy rain over the weekend in the Klang Valley.
Yesterday, areas in Kajang and Dengkil also saw flooding with 500 people having been evacuated.
