MP claims agents for 'number one' harassing Sabah reps to support PN

PARLIAMENT | A Sabah MP today read out text messages that purportedly proves that efforts are ongoing to entice state representatives to support Perikatan Nasional.
Azis Jamman (Warisan-Sepanggar) said the messages were sent to Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis, and that a police report had been lodged over the matter.
The text message read: "I have been instructed by number one to get in touch with you. Can we talk? I have an offer.
"YB, Sabah is about to change hands. Don't waste the golden opportunity. Take my offer meet me today, I'm in Kuala Lumpur."
Azis did not disclose who the message was from, or who "number one" referred to.
"I hope the Home Minister will investigate this matter. This is harassment and an attempt to buy and bribe (lawmakers), and stern action must be taken," he said.
He also said there were other cases of Sabah elected representatives being approached and offered money to defect.
Speculation is rife that former Umno Sabah chief Musa Aman is planning a coup to retake the Sabah state government.
Previously, Sabah DAP reps claimed they had been offered up to RM15 million to defect to PN.
When contacted, Isnaraissah (photo) told Malaysiakini that she lodged the police report at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
She declined to reveal details but said she had been contacted three times by the same person trying to entice her to switch sides.
Separately, Gum Gum assemblyperson Arunarsin Taib said he had been contacted 10 times since last month to get him to back Musa as chief minister.
The Sabah youth and sports assistant minister claimed that the going rate to switch sides was RM27 million.
"There's an additional RM5 million to ministers and assistant ministers making the total RM32 million just to betray the people," he said in a statement today.
Arunarsin added that such funds were better spent on the people of Sabah.
Warisan vice-president Junz Wong, meanwhile, said that while the attempts to buy lawmakers were real, "it won't succeed".
"Money cannot buy our dignity and our passion and love for Sabah. This generation of Sabah leaders under Chief Minister Shafie Apdal will stick together for the sake of our fellow Sabahans and a better Sabah," he said.
Meanwhile, Moyog assemblyperson Jenifer Lasimbang also filed a police report in Penampang this morning over attempts to make her defect.
