Many succumbed to temptation when in power, says Anwar

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said that when Pakatan Harapan was in power, many leaders had gone off track.
"When tested during the good times, when we were in power, many had failed.
"During the hard times, we suffered. But when we were at the helm of the power, we became reckless and swerved from the track," he said.
Anwar (above, middle) was speaking at the PKR information convention in Ampang today. The Port Dickson MP advised party members who had gone off track to leave the party.
"As soon as we slip away, we are not in the party agenda anymore. That's why if anybody wants to leave the party, please do so," he said.
Anwar explained that the party's struggle revolved around justice and that all members should commit to the cause wholeheartedly.
"You can't talk about the economy without justice... can't talk about justice if you enrich your family.
"When you are in power and these episodes befall you (enriching yourselves), that means you are not consistent in your fight and principles," he said.
For the record, in February, former PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali and several other PKR MPs left the party to form the Perikatan Nasional government which included Umno and PAS.
Since then, several other party leaders who were aligned to Azmin (photo) had resigned or had been sacked from PKR. Anwar, however, did not name any individuals in his speech.
He urged the party machinery to continue going to the ground to meet the people and explain the party's agenda, in light of possible snap polls.
"Our explanation is not only concerning the Sheraton move. That's just a fraction (of the issues).
"Even those who were involved (in the Sheraton move) have no idea where they are going to contest.
"Nowadays, I only smile (when we meet), there's no anger," he said.
