Immigration Dept won't renew visas for two Al Jazeera staff - report
The Immigration Department has reportedly refused to renew work visas for two of its staff who are based in Kuala Lumpur, according to a report by AFP.
It said Al Jazeera English managing director Giles Trendle has confirmed this.

The two staffers affected are Australian nationals. It is understood that both are involved in Al-Jazeera’s “101 East” programme which had aired a controversial documentary on Malaysia’s treatment of migrant workers.
Previously, the Immigration Department said it would deport Bangladeshi national Md Rayhan Kabir, who had been interviewed in the documentary and blacklist him in perpetuity.
The police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission have also raided Astro, Unifi TV, and Al Jazeera’s Kuala Lumpur office over the documentary, which was condemned by many media and human rights groups.
Police have reportedly submitted its investigations papers on the case to the Attorney-General’s Chambers today for further action.
