Covid-19 (Nov 28): 1,315 new cases, 457 in the Klang Valley

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 1,315 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today and four deaths. There were 1,110 patients discharged.

Sabah reported 476 cases, while Selangor and Kuala Lumpur combined had 457 cases. There was also a surge of infections in Perak.

The spike in Perak was mainly attributed to the Enggor cluster, which recorded 126 new cases today. The cluster, which has a total of 251 cases so far, originated from a family gathering.

Leading indicators:

  • Active cases: 11,508 ↑ (160 more than the previous day)

  • Patients in intensive care: 118 ↑ (5 more than the previous day)

  • Intubated patients: 43 ↑ (2 more than the previous day)

  • Deaths: 4

All four deaths were reported in Sabah. The state's cumulative Covid-19 death toll has reached 206, or 58.2 percent of the national total (354).

One of the deceased was an undocumented migrant, who is reportedly 130 years old. A Health Ministry spokesperson informed the media that the age was based on police records and next-of-kin's testimony.

Details of the four deceased are as follows:

'Patient 39,785': Malaysian male, 84, passed away at Duchess of Kent Hospital.

'Patient 35,037': Foreign male, 130, passed away at the Tuaran Hospital.

'Patient 59,135': Foreign female, 4, passed away at Tawau Hospital.

'Patient 60,140': Foreign female, 60, passed away at Duchess of Kent Hospital.

Of the 1,315 new cases, five were imported. A breakdown of the locally transmitted cases are as follows:

Six new clusters

In a statement, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were six new infection clusters.

The PTS Sibuga cluster - linked to a temporary detention centre in Sandakan, Sabah, it has 104 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Nov 5.

The Tapak Bina Jesselton cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah has 44 cases to date. The cases were detected today as a result of workplace screening.

The Dermaga cluster in Sandakan, Sabah has 34 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Oct 24.

The Tempasuk cluster in Kota Belud, Sabah has 12 cases to date. The index case tested positive on Nov 24.

The UD SS2 cluster in Petaling, Selangor has 13 cases. The index case tested positive on Nov 27.

The Tapak Bina Awan Baru cluster in Kepong and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur has 31 cases to date. The cases were detected today as a result of targeted screening on the construction site's workers.
