However, the Health director-general stressed that they still need to look into data if this is something that can be done.
"We are looking into data if we can shorten (the period of quarantine), either to 12 days or 10 days.
"We need to manage the risk. We need the data before we can review the policy," he told reporters during the ministry's press conference in Putrajaya today.
Noor Hisham was answering a question on whether there is any plan by the government to change its policies on foreign nationals who come into the country.
Currently, Malaysia employs a strict rule for all inbound travellers, where all are required to take Covid-19 swab tests and undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Noor Hisham said they are aware that some countries only require travellers to be quarantined for only seven days or 10 days.
Meanwhile, on another matter, Noor Hisham confirmed that there are 90 positive cases detected among employees of a company in Bangi.
This followed several viral videos on social media, which showed a group of people being escorted by health workers onto several vehicles. It claimed that these are workers of a transport system company based in Bangi.
However, according to him, the workers are part of the Hentian cluster, which to date recorded a total of 1,386 cases, including 38 reported today.
"This cluster has spread in Bangi and Kajang, among other places. So we are enhancing tracing activities for this cluster.
"These cases are related to an existing cluster, not a new one," he said.
