Pejuang backs call for united opposition, wants new faces to lead negotiations

Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) pro-tem youth chief Abu Hafiz Salleh Hudin has backed the calls to forge a united opposition.
Abu Hafiz noted that youth leaders in Amanah and DAP have made similar calls for all opposition parties to return to the negotiation table with the goal of forming a new and united opposition for the 15th general election.
He said the youth leaders play a balancing between the position taken by the top party echelon and the reality that the opposition is failing to show its true strength due to division.
"Therefore, Pejuang Youth is open to support any negotiation or efforts to form a united opposition, be it in the Dewan Rakyat for the 15th general election," he said in a statement.
This is amid the opposition failing to defeat Muhyiddin Yassin's budget in the Dewan Rakyat despite claims that the prime minister had lost majority support.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who leads Pakatan Harapan, has not been able to reconcile with Dr Mahathir Mohamad who leads Pejuang and has the support of Warisan.
Abu Hafiz said fresh faces are needed to negotiate a united opposition.
"The senior leaders from all parties should instead play an advisory role," he said.
He added that their disagreements should not be at the expense of the country's future and the youths' aspirations.
