COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 4,094 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths.

This is the fourth time daily case numbers exceed 4,000, all four of which were recorded in the past two weeks.

Today's tally is also the second-highest ever recorded in Malaysia after 4,275 cases were recorded last Saturday.

The total number of cases now stands at 198,208 and the country is expected to breach the 200,000 mark tomorrow.

 Leading indicators:

  • Active cases: 43,192↑ (803 more than the previous day)
  • Patients in ICU: 303 ↓ (11 less than the previous day)
  • Intubated patients: 118 ↓ (4 more than the previous day)
  • Deaths: 10

Klang Valley cases account for 55.3 percent of the national total today, but Johor also recorded a substantial number of cases (17.5 percent).

The number of cases detected through "other screenings" in Kuala Lumpur accounts for 361 out of 678 cases (53.2 percent) of cases.

There is no way to discern how many of these cases were detected among those with symptoms but are not linked to existing clusters because the Kuala Lumpur health department does not provide such figures, unlike Selangor and Perak.
