Suke accident: Body of third victim still trapped 31 hours later

The Fire and Rescue Department is currently trying to stabilise a U beam before attempting to lift a crane launcher that had pinned the victim down and extract the body.
Yesterday at around 8.45am, a crane launcher used in the construction of the highway collapsed onto a Perodua Bezza car 120 feet below.
Two of the victims died on the spot, while one died later. All three were reported to be China nationals.
The car driver, who is a Malaysian, suffered serious injuries due to the impact.
It was the third accident involving Suke in six months.
Among Suke’s subcontractors are Beijing-based China Communications Construction Co Ltd (CCCC), Jetson Construction Sdn Bhd, Econpile Holdings Bhd, and Zelan Bhd.
Works Minister Fadillah Yusof yesterday said initial investigations found that the Suke project contractor “had complied with the stipulated standard operating procedures”.
