COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 6,658 new Covid-19 cases.

There were also 107 deaths, the sixth time that reported deaths have been in the triple digits. More than half of the deaths were in the Klang Valley.

Meanwhile, the total number of patients who recovered from Covid-19 since last year has now reached 700,215. 

However, the 5,677 recoveries today were outpaced by new infections leading to a rise in the number of active cases.

The situation in Selangor (3,047) has gotten progressively worse over the past two weeks. The last time there were more than 3,000 cases in the state was exactly a month ago.

Deaths

There 107 fatalities today brought the cumulative death toll to 5434.

The new deaths were recorded in Selangor (51), Kuala Lumpur (21), Negeri Sembilan (11), Johor (6), Pahang (5), Kedah (5), Malacca (4), Sarawak (1), Perak (1), Sabah (1) and Labuan (1).

The youngest victims were two men aged 27 and 28. Six other victims were aged between 32 and 36. The other fatalities were between 42 and 92 years old.
