Takiyuddin hospitalised after heart procedure - PAS officer confirms

De facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan is currently hospitalised after undergoing a heart procedure last Friday, according to a PAS official.

When contacted, PAS information officer Mohd Shahir Abu Hassan confirmed an Utusan Malaysia report which quoted sources who revealed the PAS secretary-general’s hospitalisation.

“Yes, he had to undergo heart surgery,” he told Malaysiakini today.

Shahir also said the party was informed of the matter earlier today by an aide to Takiyuddin.

Earlier, Utusan Malaysia reported that Takiyuddin was admitted to a private hospital in Kuala Lumpur and underwent a three-hour heart procedure last Friday.

Meanwhile, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man in a Facebook post said he contacted Takiyuddin this morning to get an update on his condition.

“He informed me that the doctor has inserted stents at the blockages.

“Alhamdulillah everything went well and he is expected to be discharged in one or two days,” said Tuan Ibrahim.

Takiyuddin has remained silent since the royal rebuke last week which saw the Yang di-Pertuan Agong expressing disappointment with his conduct, and that of attorney-general Idrus Harun.

Istana Negara in a statement last Thursday said Takiyuddin misled Parliament on the annulment of the emergency ordinances.

The palace said Takiyuddin and Idrus also did not fulfil their promise to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to have the matter debated in Parliament.

As such, the palace said the Agong was “amat dukacita” (very disappointed) that Parliament was informed on July 26 that the ordinances were revoked.
