The deputy public prosecutor has decided on no further action (NFA) against a teacher who was alleged to have made a rape joke in class.
Sungai Buloh police chief Shafa'aton Abu Bakar confirmed this with Malaysiakini, and said the decision had been made on June 8.
The case came to light after 17-year-old Ain Husniza Saiful Nizam made the allegations on social media in April.
Among others, the teacher allegedly told the boys in class that if they commit rape, they should target those above 18.
When contacted, Ain's father, Saiful Nizam Ab Wahab, said he would consult a lawyer on the next step following the NFA.
Since going public with her story, Ain has gained supporters but also suffered through criticisms and threats, including a rape threat from a fellow classmate, who later apologised for his remark.
Yesterday, it was reported that the teacher was demanding RM1 million from the Form 5 student, as compensation over "defamatory statements".
The teacher also demanded an apology, and failure to fulfil demands would result in further legal action.
Ain later tweeted that she and her father will be meeting with the police tomorrow after the teacher lodged a report against them.
Saiful Nizam said they will be accompanied by lawyer Sankara Nair, as well as Petaling Jaya MP Maria Chin Abdullah and Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.
