PKR’s Indera Kayangan assemblyperson Gan Ay Ling has confirmed that she is positive for Covid-19 after coming into contact with a constituent last week.

Gan (above) said she found out the constituent was positive on Sunday, Aug 8 and went to get tested herself the next day.

“I have started self-isolating as a precaution ever since I took the RT-PCR test on Monday.

“With the positive result, I will comply with the advice and instructions from Kangar district health office to observe self-quarantine at home until the duration of this disease is over,” she said in a statement on her Facebook today.

Gan added that her service centre will also be temporarily closed.

Even though all her programmes observed proper standard operating procedures (SOPs), she still urged everyone who has been in close contact with her in the past seven days to get screened for Covid-19.

Kangar MP Noor Amin Ahmad also tweeted later that he had been in close contact with Gan last weekend and as such, he will also get tested and start self-quarantining.

According to Gan’s Facebook page, she and the Kangar MP had cooperated last weekend to distribute food supplies to the Indera Kayangan residents.
