The conflict within Pakatan Harapan over which logo to be used in the next general election shall be solved on the discussion table, said its chairperson Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, told reporters today that there are some in PKR who want Harapan to use the party logo while other component parties insist on the coalition's brand.
"I respect the views from party grassroots who have been calling for (Harapan) leadership to use PKR logo in the next election.
"I also understand that in the context of Harapan, there are calls from our friends to use the Harapan logo instead.
"So, let us discuss this in a peaceful manner so that we can arrive at a decision in harmony," he said during a virtual press conference this morning.
Anwar added that both sides have "strong points" to support their argument. He, however, did not elaborate.
Anwar was asked to comment on the internal issue faced by Harapan components, where PKR wants the coalition to use the party's logo just as they did in 2018 while Amanah and DAP want to use the Harapan logo.
Last week, 26 Federal Territories PKR divisional leaders issued a joint statement calling for the PKR logo to be used in GE15, and said the decision was based on a "winning formula".
The call was then rebuked by Federal Territories DAP Youth leader Lee Bing Hong, who proposed that they unite behind the Harapan banner and said there was little room for “selfish” moves.
The latest to join the fracas was Perlis PKR, which reportedly issued a statement three days ago where they made a similar call to use the party logo instead of Harapan.
