Climate change and commitments to reduce carbon emissions have prompted governments worldwide to move away from using coal energy.
In Malaysia, the government has pledged to not build any new coal-fired power plants and committed to a carbon-neutral Malaysia in 2050, at the earliest.
As Malaysia looks to reduce its reliance on coal energy for electricity generation, questions remain on what would fill this gap and how.
This is the question which experts will discuss at the forum 'Swapping Coal: What's the Future's Energy Mix' at 4pm tomorrow (Oct 28).
The forum will, among others, look into the challenges of energy transition to both renewable and non-renewable sources, and the technology and policies required for this.
Moderated by EcoKnights founder Yasmin Rasyid, the forum will feature environment and climate advocate Sharan Raj, Sustainable Energy Authority Development's strategic planning director Ibrahim Ariffin and Solarvest Holdings Bhd's Davis Chong.
