Caretaker CM calls video targeting Rauf 'election season slander'

“It won’t affect the campaign. When election season is near, all kinds of slanders will come out,” he told journalists in Pantai Kundor, Malacca.
The video first surfaced late last year showing a female hotel employee accompanying a man to his room.
Later, the woman was seen leaving the room and started pacing around. The video claimed the woman was distressed after allegedly being sexually harassed in the room.
The video was recirculated on social media yesterday.
The case was investigated by police under Section 500 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation and 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 for misuse of network facilities.
The hotel employee had also lodged a police report to deny the incident.
To date, the police have not announced any charges.
Rauf (above) is contesting in the BN stronghold of Tanjung Bidara in the Malacca polls.
Sulaiman was visiting Pantai Kundor to assist the BN candidate there. Sulaiman is also defending his Lendu seat.
BN’s Pantai Kundor candidate is Timinah Kadi. He is facing against his former Umno colleague Nor Azman Hassan, who is contesting as a Harapan candidate, and PN’s Mohamad Ridzwan Mustafa.
Campaigning for the Malacca polls started on Nov 8. Malaccans will cast their votes on Nov 20.
