COVID-19 | The Health Ministry's Github data repository reported 37 new Covid-19 deaths yesterday (Nov 24), bringing the cumulative death toll to 30,147.

Malaysia has the highest number of deaths per capita in the Asean and East Asian regions, with 913 deaths per 1 million population.

From the newly reported deaths yesterday, 24.3 percent or 9 died before they could receive treatment at a hospital.

Terengganu recorded the highest number of new deaths at 7, making up 18.9 percent of the newly reported fatalities.

The remaining deaths were reported in Negeri Sembilan (5), Sabah (5), Kelantan (4), Selangor (4), Johor (3), Perak (3), Kedah (2), Pahang (2), Sarawak (1), and Kuala Lumpur (1).

Over the past two weeks, the highest incidence of deaths occurred in Terengganu, Kelantan, and Sarawak, according to the CovidNow website.

Terengganu and Kelantan currently have the highest usage of hospital beds meant for Covid-19 patients.

A total of 36 out of the 37 reported deaths or 97.3 percent happened in the last seven days.

The remaining deaths happened more than a week ago but were only recorded yesterday due to delays in data reporting.

There was an average of 55 Covid-19 deaths reported daily in the last 30 days compared to 45 in the last seven days. This indicates a downtrend.

This month, 1,334 Covid-19 deaths have been reported.

A total of 2,704 Covid-19 deaths were reported in October, 9,678 in September, 7,642 in August, and 3,858 in July.

As of yesterday, there were 69,261 active Covid-19 cases. This is an increase of 3.7 percent from 66,795 a week ago.

Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has fallen by 5.4 percent from 73,225.

Notably, active cases have been trending up over the past two weeks in most parts of the country, except in Malacca and Sarawak.
