Pahang DAP Youth vice-chief Chris Shan has likened PKR members who protested outside a DAP service centre to "Umno thugs" (samseng Umno).
Shan said this in reference to a group of PKR grassroots members protesting outside Bilut assemblyperson Lee Chin Chen's service centre yesterday over a call for PKR president Anwar Ibrahim to step down as the Pakatan Harapan chairperson.
"The Pahang PKR representative causing a ruckus outside the Bilut assemblyperson's office is no different from the attitude of Umno thugs.
"If they disagree with Lee's statement, they can rebut him and present evidence to prove him wrong, not create a ruckus like thugs," Shan said in a statement.
Lee had blamed Anwar for Harapan's lacklustre performance in the Malacca polls over the opposition leader's decision to accept Umno defectors as Harapan candidates.
Shan questioned if the Pahang PKR members supported a culture of political defection.
The DAP leader added that they should reflect on the Malacca setback instead of protesting against Lee.
The PKR members had demanded that Lee retract the statement.
Shan said Pahang DAP Youth will back Lee and supports the decision to stand by his statement.
