Shafie extends Warisan invitation to Muda ahead of national expansion

Warisan president Shafie Apdal has extended an invitation for Muda to use its platform after the Home Ministry refused to grant Muda registration as a formal political party.

This is ahead of the Sabah-based Warisan's plan to expand nationally.

"If Muda can't get its registration, don't worry, use this platform," Shafie said at Warisan's annual general assembly in Kota Kinabalu today.

Present as a guest at the event was Muda pro-tem president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Shafie said Warisan will unveil its expansion in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 17.

"This is the third force in the coming 15th general election," he said.

Shafie said at present, voters do not have much of a choice, noting the low turnout in the Malacca polls.

"We are providing a choice for Malaysians, for the country," he said.

Syed Saddiq was later quoted by The Star as saying that Muda and Warisan are cooperating in many aspects but did not want to get ahead of Muda's court challenge.

Muda is suing the government on its bid to register as a political party.

"Let’s not go beyond the court’s decision yet. The hearing is next week," he was quoted as saying.
