Lipis Umno to support Ismail Sabri if re-nominated as PM after GE15

Lipis division chief Abdul Rahman Mohamad said Ismail Sabri, who is Umno vice-president, also needs to be given the chance to lead and administer the country until the end of his term.
"Why? Because we need to prove to Malaysians that no other leader from other parties can administer well besides Umno and BN, (so) we need to support the prime minister fully.
"There is no reason to hold a general election early as we need more time to secure the confidence of Malaysians, we need more time because the Budget 2022 has just been passed and its worth needs to be shown and proven to the public.
"That’s why we need to fully support the prime minister’s leadership until the end of his term or until GE15. In fact, (we) agree if he is re-nominated as prime minister after GE15,” he said during his speech at the Lipis Umno division delegates meeting at Wisma Umno Lipis, near Kuantan today.
Meanwhile, Rahman, who is also Lipis MP, urged the party to court youths through social media platforms, including using the TikTok app.
According to him, Undi18 would play a deciding role in the upcoming election and if Umno members did not pay serious attention, it is possible that the party would suffer setbacks and lose in the election.
"We need to court them, we need to win over their hearts and minds. We need to court them not only through physical touch but we need to use social media as a measure to understand this group. That’s why we need to be aware of the way the young think, but there are ways to ensure we don’t deviate from our original goal,” he said.
According to Rahman, the Sarawak state election happening today will also determine the national political landscape and voter reception towards BN.
He said BN’s victory in Malacca proved that voters have welcomed back the coalition but it is not in a safe zone and needed to intensify efforts for the upcoming general election.
"We have recently finished the Malacca state election. Alhamdulillah, we could form a BN government in Malacca. Let us prepare and mobilise for the big battle ahead in the upcoming GE15,” he added.
