All ministers returning from overseas will have to follow the normal quarantine procedures, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
He told a press conference today that the procedure still applies to ministers although they are being called back by the prime minister to help with the flood situation.
"Although they are being called back, it is very important for us to take precautions and be careful.
"So, the procedures still apply (to the ministers)," Khairy said.
He was responding to a reporter's question on whether ministers returning from overseas would still be subjected to the quarantine order.
This came after Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday cancelled their year-end holiday and recalled the ministers on leave, including those overseas, to return to work until after the flood situation has passed.
Probe on Hulu Langat MP
On another issue, Khairy said the ministry is investigating why Hulu Langat MP Hasanuddin Mohd Yunus broke his quarantine order after returning from overseas on Wednesday (Dec 22).
This came after the Amanah vice-president uploaded photos of him engaging in flood-related works in his constituency on the same day of his arrival from Istanbul, Turkey.
He was in Istanbul to attend a meeting and also visited several other countries including Pakistan and Iran.
According to Khairy, Hasanuddin was initially given a quarantine exemption for his trip to Istanbul where he attended an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) conference, under Malaysia's test and release protocol for official travel.
"That exemption was approved because of the test and release protocol that we have for official travel. But when he arrived (in Malaysia) on Dec 22, the initial exemption was overridden because he was asked to do home quarantine. That was the last correspondence we had with him.
"The Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC) had on Dec 20 issued an email to Hasanuddin saying we approved his home surveillance order or home surveillance. This was subsequent to the OIC (quarantine) exemption.
"We are now investigating the case, seeing where he went," the minister added.
