A senior cop has reportedly suggested that the government use corporal punishment against undocumented migrants who have been caught repeatedly entering the country via illegal entry points.

A senior cop has reportedly suggested that the government use corporal punishment against undocumented migrants who have been caught repeatedly entering the country via illegal entry points.
Federal internal security and public order director Hazani Ghazali (above) was quoted by Sinar Harian as saying repeat offenders should be whipped.
This would serve as a lesson for repeated offences, he added.
"We will not compromise at all on the issue of illegal immigration because it can affect national security," Hazani had said.
Whipping is already a form of punishment for illegal entry.
Section 6(3) of the Immigration Act states that the penalty for illegal entry is a fine not exceeding RM10,000, or imprisonment up to five years. Offenders are also liable to whipping of not more than six strokes.
Activists over the years have called on the government to repeal the punishment of whipping against undocumented migrants.
