Malaysians rushing to renew or apply for new passports upon the reopening of borders have met a brick wall.
This is because a technical glitch has downed the passport application system, the Immigration Department said.
"The Immigration Department apologises for the inconvenience faced and is working to ensure the system is operational again," said department director Khairul Dzaimee Daud on Facebook.
Further enquiries to the department can be made via a form on their website.
Malaysia fully opened its borders to international visitors on April 1, two years after locking up to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
However, those travelling into Malaysia must take Covid-19 tests before departing and after arriving.
This does not include individuals travelling from Singapore or countries with bilateral agreements where an on-arrival test is not mandatory.
