MOH taskforce to probe junior doctor's death, alleged bullying

The Health Ministry will set up a task force to investigate the death of a junior doctor in Penang and allegations of bullying in the medical fraternity.
This was confirmed by Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin (above) through his social media accounts today.
Khairy said he had also received a preliminary report on the death of the junior doctor from the head of the deceased’s department.
On April 17, the deceased had apparently plunged from the 23rd floor of an apartment, two weeks after reporting from duty at Penang general hospital.
Following this, several news reports speculated that the incident may be linked to the bullying of junior doctors.
So far, the police have not released any details and a full medical report has yet to be prepared.
For now, the police have classified the case as “sudden death”.
The incident received severe criticism from Penang executive council member Norlela Arifin, who alleged to have received many complaints about junior doctors being bullied.
She will be initiating a probe through Penang Health Committee to hear from junior doctors about their experiences.
