The PKR central leadership council (MPP) has resolved to not discuss nor cooperate with former party member Azmin Ali.
This decision was made when the leadership council met last night, according to PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil.
"(Azmin) is regarded by party members, supporters and the public as one of the key reasons why the traitorous 'Sheraton Move' occurred," he said.
Malaysiakini reported on Friday that Azmin and two PKR officials met at the Sheraton Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, for an hour last Wednesday (June 15).
PKR did not dispute the report, while Azmin told reporters in Penang yesterday that he "could not remember" if he was at Sheraton Hotel on that date.
Azmin was among 10 MPs who left PKR in February 2020, contributing to the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan administration.
The event was dubbed the "Sheraton Move" because those 10 MPs and some lawmakers from Bersatu held a dinner event with Harapan's opponents at the eponymous hotel to signal a new political alignment.
GE15 preparations
Meanwhile, Fahmi said the MPP was informed that the party's internal election committee (JPP) was still evaluating complaints and auditing the results of the recent party election.
"The new leadership will have to act fast and as a team to face PKR's enemies during the 15th general election," he added.
He said the PKR congress will go on as planned, from July 15 to 17, at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam, Selangor.
"This congress will focus on the party's preparation for the next general election and the dissolution of Parliament, which can happen any time soon after July 31," Fahmi added.
