In a statement, Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani advised the public against attending flashmobs or rallies that do not abide by the provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
“Strict action will be taken by the police towards any flashmob or rally organisers or participants that fail to abide by the law.
“The police will monitor and ensure that the nation’s state of security is not affected.
“At the same time, the public is advised to cooperate by not getting involved in activities that may disrupt public order,” he said.
Amanah leaders previously held a protest outside the Kampung Baru mosque on July 1, demanding the government return to food subsidies, abolish food import permits and for the issue of price hikes to be raised in the next Parliament sitting.
Amanah mobilisation chief Sany Hamzan gave the government until today (July 16) to meet their demands, warning that a bigger gathering would be held if no action was taken.
