Muhyiddin tells PM to keep promises, denies threatening Umno

“That’s the agreement (between us). There’s an Islamic quote stipulating the fulfilment of promises. So, it is not a threat.
“The prime minister had agreed.
“Umno can say whatever they want. However, that’s between him (Ismail Sabri) and PN, not Bersatu,” he told the media while attending an event in the capital today.
Muhyiddin said he would leave it to PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin to discuss with the prime minister’s office when the time is right to meet with Ismail Sabri.
He, however, declined to acknowledge if he was referring to an alleged agreement concerning the deputy prime minister post.
Earlier this month, Muhyiddin confirmed he recently met Ismail Sabri to discuss new cabinet appointments for Bersatu following Plantation and Commodities Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin’s move to Parti Bangsa Malaysia.
Muhyiddin, at the time, revealed that his requests to Ismail Sabri were made based on their prior agreement, which included the position of deputy prime minister.
In a statement yesterday, Hamzah said PN would send a delegation to meet the prime minister to discuss the implementation of the agreement’s terms.
Hamzah’s statement was not well received by Umno as its Youth wing chief, Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, likened it to an indirect challenge to BN to act decisively.
“There is no need to threaten the prime minister in order to secure the position of deputy prime minister and ministers,” said Asyraf.
