MACC probing Zahid's claims of graft by Umno MPs who joined Bersatu

Ramkarpal had asked whether investigation papers were opened into a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economic Affairs), a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), and a deputy health minister.
In his brief response, Wan Junaidi said MACC could not reveal further details.

PARLIAMENT | The MACC is currently reviewing a report of a minister and two deputy ministers for alleged misappropriation of funds.

This is a possible reference to allegations by Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi that three MPs from Umno quit the party and joined Bersatu after the 14th general election to save themselves from being investigated by the anti-corruption body.
Zahid testified in the High Court in June that the first Umno MP to quit and join Bersatu was Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (Bersatu-Masjid Tanah) who is also currently a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law).
He alleged that she was entrusted with managing funds for the 14th general election but did not use them for the intended purpose of Umno’s Puteri wing operations.
The other MPs he highlighted were Mustapa Mohamed (Bersatu-Jeli) and Noor Azmi Ghazali (Bersatu-Bagan Serai).
Zahid claimed Mustapa, who is now a minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, was entrusted with RM30 million to handle Umno's election machinery when he was Kelantan Umno’s liaison committee chairperson, prior to GE14.
“I was told that the RM30 million was never spent on logistics, and I have information that the money was given to his wife to be deposited into a personal account,” he testified.
Meanwhile, he claimed deputy health minister Noor Azmi was given allocations for development in his constituency but based on documents seen by Zahid himself, the allocations were found to be “handled” by Noor Azmi’s brother in his capacity as a special officer.
These allegations were made when Zahid was testifying in his trial for money laundering, criminal breach of trust, and corruption involving funds from Yayasan Akal Budi, a foundation he runs.
Both Mas Ermieyati and Mustapa have denied the allegations.
