Wan Saiful: Is PM afraid to meet his political allies?
Bersatu Information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan has called out Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob for allegedly being unwilling to formally meet with Perikatan Nasional (PN) representatives.
Wan Saiful accused Ismail Sabri of being afraid and said the Umno vice-president must explain if he was scared to meet with his political allies.
“What is Ismail so afraid of? Is he not brave enough to even meet with his political allies?
“Or are there issues that Ismail Sabir wants to hide and is afraid the PN delegation will ask?
“We are all already well informed on many scandals, among them the massive scandal regarding the littoral combat ships, which has backfired on Umno leaders,” he said in a statement posted on this Facebook page.
Despite Ismail Sabri previously stating he recently met several PN representatives, Wan Saiful said the meeting did not count as a meeting with the entire leadership.
“If it is a matter of meeting for lunch, that is not the proper official meeting that we requested.
“For me, Ismail Sabri’s statement claiming he has met a PN delegation is filled with lies and is extremely impolite.
“Ismail has to explain why he lied to the media and to the rakyat,” he said.
On August 13, Ismail Sabri said that he held meetings with a PN delegation two weeks ago, and the meeting took place during the last week of the Dewan Rakyat proceedings.
The meeting was attended by PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainuddin and treasurer general Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.
However, BH Online reported today that Samsuri said PN has been trying to initiate another meeting with the prime minister since their first meeting two weeks ago.
According to Samsuri, a second meeting must be held so that issues discussed with Ismail Sabri could once again be raised by all of PN’s appointed representatives.
In his statement, Wan Saiful thanked the Terengganu chief minister for validating his statement about the need for a second meeting.
He added the official representatives of the PN delegation should comprise Hamzah, assistant secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, Samsuri, and PN information chief Azmin Ali.
