PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he did not begin studying the LCS scandal solely for political reasons, but it was also his hobby to take on such projects.
Speaking to reporters today, he said it made him feel like the Japanese anime and manga (comic) character “Detective Conan” when deep diving into the LCS scandal.
In both the manga and the anime, high school detective Conan occasionally works with the police to solve various cases.
“I will admit I knew about the LCS issue for a while but only started studying it three to four months ago.
“It so happened that the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) revealed the issue. With LCS, there is a lot left to be revealed, and I think even with the general election in two months it would continue.
“I am not the type to pick issues solely for politics, it is also my hobby. I like it, like Detective Conan,” he said.
He foresaw the LCS scandal remaining an issue even until voting day.
During his speech at the PKR’s election convention earlier, Rafizi told party grassroots that his exposé on the LCS controversy was done to prove that the Malay community was being harmed by Malay politicians, whose motto was always defending the rights of the race.
“The ones weakening the military of our country are not our soldiers. What’s weakening the system is how the allocations supposed to go to procuring weapons have been stolen by the ministers.
“...I chose to expose this issue because I wanted to show the Malays out there, who the actual ones weakening them. The ones making it difficult for the community are not the non-Malays.
“The cause of the problem is leaders who use race and religion to enrich themselves,” he said.
Rafizi has been exposing the LCS scandal in recent weeks, following a PAC report that revealed the many scandals in the procurement of the six navy ships.
