Umno leader: Muhyiddin's anti-BN move buries Bersatu in Sabah

Umno central committee member Razlan Rafii said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin's move to declare BN an enemy has effectively "buried" his party leaders in Sabah, who came in power as part of a coalition with BN.

"In its attempt to make a political gambit, (Bersatu) was willing to stab its colleague and with that, bury Umno in the Land Below The Wind. But in the end, Bersatu is the one on the losing end," he said in a statement.

Razlan's (above) statement comes after the Gerakan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition chairperson and Sabah Bersatu chief Hajiji Noor distanced Sabah Bersatu from its president's statement.

Hajiji said GRS will continue to support BN in the 15th general election and work with BN to develop Sabah.

However, Razlan said Hajiji's move to mitigate his president's statement was too late.

"The Sabah chief minister's statement shows in fact, the gravestone is ready for Bersatu in Sabah, and it is a matter of time before they are buried," he said in a statement.

'Warning to other parties'

GRS, a political coalition consisting of Star, PBS, SAPP, Sabah Bersatu and Usno Baru, is allied with Umno.

Umno contributed 17 seats to the alliance to form the Sabah government, while its state chief Bung Moktar Radin is Sabah's deputy chief minister.

Perikatan Nasional is made up of Bersatu, PAS, Star, SAPP and Gerakan.

Besides GRS, PAS has also distanced itself from Muhyiddin's statement by affirming that BN is not its enemy.

Meanwhile, Razlan reminded smaller parties not to make the same misstep as Bersatu.

"Small parties like these are often fated for doom because their leaders are too big for their boots and try to be the head honcho.

"So this is a warning to all political parties: Don't follow Bersatu's ways.

"This struggle is not a shortcut to power or fulfilling your self-interests but it is about self-sacrifice and loyalty to the party," he said.
