Vote for BN, ex-minister Khairuddin urges PAS leaders and members
Unfortunately, said the incumbent Kuala Nerus MP, the move was thwarted when PAS delayed by waiting for the “right time” to announce the decision.
Former PAS MP Khairuddin Aman Razali has openly urged PAS members and Muslims to vote for BN in the 15th general election (GE15).
He insisted that only BN is able to prevent Pakatan Harapan from emerging victorious compared to Perikatan Nasional (PN), which did not have many members when PAS refused to make an alliance with BN.
"This is a time when PAS is not ready to make an alliance with Umno when the joint aspiration of PAS and Umno is to block Harapan's victory. So, Muslims have no choice but to vote for BN in the polls.
"Why? Because preventing Harapan's threat is mandatory," Khairuddin (above) said, without clarifying what harm he meant.
"Harapan's damage should be removed with a consensus between PAS and Umno, which has a large support of 3.4 million (Umno members) plus a million (PAS members), totalling 4.4 million people.
"But when 4.4 million support does not happen, we want to have the support of 3.4 million people.
“I don't know how many from Bersatu, which only has between 100,000 and 200,000 members," he said when speaking at a meeting with the BN machinery of the Kuala Nerus at Kuala Terengganu, today.
Also present was former Terengganu mentri besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.
'PAS almost left PN for Umno'
Khairuddin, who was one of the key figures who worked towards the formation of Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact between Umno and PAS, revealed that PAS came close to leaving PN.
Unfortunately, the move was thwarted when PAS delayed by waiting for the “right time” to announce the decision.
Khairuddin also claimed that PAS had rejected Umno's offer several times before to work together in polls such as in the Malacca and Johor state elections.
"This is the reality that PAS members have to accept, it's okay that God finally opened his heart before the dissolution of Parliament to create a spirit to work together again.
"PAS was working through meetings between Abdul Hadi Awang (PAS president) and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. We used various channels to bring the two together.
"In the end, it worked, and Zahid gave a condition that PAS had to leave PN. Then, a media statement was released where PAS said BN is not an enemy of PAS.
"A truce was later made between the two parties not to attack each other. The PAS Ulama Shura Council met and the decision was to agree to continue with MN and leave PN," he said.
Khairuddin added after that, Hadi went to Iran before immediately returning home when Parliament was dissolved.

"Hadi continued to meet with the Umno leadership and according to the information from Zahid, PAS agreed to continue with MN. PAS is waiting to declare it.
"But unfortunately, I was informed that there was a PN meeting and the next day, a central PAS meeting and the result was PAS is staying with PN," he claimed.
Khairuddin had previously announced his exit from PAS, believed to be related to his efforts to bring Umno and PAS together after the Islamist party joined PN.
