Sabah DAP names three incumbents, four fresh faces for GE15

Sabah DAP has named seven parliamentary candidates, including three incumbents to defend Kota Kinabalu, Tenom and Sandakan. 

The state chapter will also be fielding candidates in Papar, Batu Sapi, Lahad Datu and Keningau.

"We will be venturing into tougher seats this GE15 because we believe that Sabah and Malaysia deserve better. 

"We want to ensure that a progressive, diverse and inclusive government led by Pakatan Harapan is formed after Nov 19," Sabah DAP chief Frankie Poon said in naming the candidates today.

The three incumbents are Chan Foong Hin (Kota Kinabalu), Noorita Sual (Tenom) and Vivian Wong (Sandakan) while the new faces are Liau Fui Fui (Batu Sapi), Henry Shim Chee On (Papar), Oscar Sia Yu Hock (Lahad Datu) and Grelydia Gillod (Keningau).

Sia is running in the seat that was won by defector Mohamaddin Ketapi in the last general election while Gillod is contesting against local strongman Jeffrey Kitingan.

Poon pointed out that the party’s slate of candidates in Sabah is young.

"Our candidates are young, diverse and inclusive. 

"The average age of the seven candidates is below 40 years old. This shows how dedicated we are towards grooming our younger generations as leaders.

"It is also a historical moment as more than half of the line-up are Sabah natives and more than half are women and young but experienced candidates," he added.
