‘No discussions on PN’s MB candidate for Perak yet’ - state secretary

Perak Perikatan Nasional (PN) has yet to pick an individual to be named as the coalition’s menteri besar in the state if it wins in the upcoming general election.

State PN secretary Zainol Fadzi Paharudin said the alliance has not had any discussions pertaining to the matter.

“PN’s leadership will decide on this, there’s a plan for it.

“Once the nomination is done, there will be announcements made by the state’s leadership, be it about the menteri besar candidate or the manifesto.

“What is important now is that we have deployed our parliamentary-level machinery from Oct 13 to 22,” he said.

Earlier today, Pakatan Harapan named former public services department (JPA) deputy director-general Zainal Azman Abu Seman as the silver state’s menteri besar candidate should the coalition emerge as a victor in the coming national polls.

Asked if PN’s candidates would declare their assets ahead of the election, Zainol said a meeting will be held at the state level tomorrow on the matter.

“In the meeting tomorrow, we will be discussing positive measures to convince the people how serious we are in handling issues on bribery, kleptocracy and misuse of power.

“If there are orders for us to declare our assets, I am confident all candidates will follow suit, no problem,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zainol also said that there were slight changes to the list of contesting candidates announced on Tuesday.

In Alor Pongsu, Noor Azman Ghazali has been named as PN’s candidate for the state seat, while Sallehuddin Abdullah will be contesting in Selinsing.

Meanwhile, M Kalidass who was previously announced as Jelapang’s candidate has been replaced with S Navinten.

As for candidates in the Pengkalan Baharu and Malim Nawar state seats that were not announced previously, Ahmad Faisal Mansor and Sharifah Aemeera Najwa Syed Mohamed will contest the seats, respectively.
