GE15 | Perikatan Nasional (PN) will station special agents at campaign sites to monitor whether party members or those from coalition parties help other parties to campaign.

PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said if the special agents received reports with evidence that members of PN component parties are campaigning for other parties, they will be stripped of their membership.

"We will place agents to monitor all PN component party members and if they are found to be helping rival parties, action will be taken against them. We will track these members (those who campaign for other parties) based on reports from their division heads or chairperson.

“Such reports must be accompanied by evidence. If investigations reveal that the reported individual is from PN, we will immediately take action and terminate their membership,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after meeting voters together with the PN candidate from Bersatu, Wan Saiful Wan Jan, who will be contesting for the Tasek Gelugor parliamentary seat, at the district polling station in Taman Senangan, Teluk Air Tawar, last night.

Ramelle’s Bersatu membership revoked

Meanwhile, the membership of Bersatu party member, Ramelle Ashram Ramli who helped a BN candidate campaign has been revoked automatically.

Perak Bersatu secretary Zainol Fadzi Paharuddin said helping an opponent in the GE campaign was considered a breach of discipline and giving the party a bad image.

"We have received reports on Ramelle helping another party in its campaign, hence immediate disciplinary action was taken against him.

"Ramelle should have known that he could be axed by the party for such behaviour as provided by the party's constitution and that is clear," he told Bernama when met yesterday.

Ramelle was said to have campaigned for the BN candidate for the Pasir Salak parliamentary seat, Khairul Azwan Harun, and this has gone viral. The latter is also Pasir Salak BN treasurer and Pasir Salak Umno division deputy head. The seat was previously held by Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, who served for three terms.

Khairul Azwan will be facing Pakatan Harapan candidate Nik Omar Nik Abdul Aziz from PKR and Jamaluddin Yahya (PAS) representing PN, while GTA is banking on Zairol Hizam Zakaria from Putra.
