Grandmother claims remains of four loved ones killed in landslide

A heartbroken grandmother nearly collapsed on her way into Sungai Buloh Hospital to claim the bodies of her four fallen family members in the Batang Kali tragedy.

Beh Su Lee, 59, from Sabak Bernam, had to be held by her relatives as she left the hospital's Forensic Department.

The woman told Bernama that she lost her daughter and son-in-law, who are in their 30s, and two grandchildren, a boy and a girl aged six and one respectively, in the Friday morning incident.

"Yesterday (Dec 17), I identified three bodies. Today (Dec 18), I found another one," teary Beh told reporters before leaving the hospital.

Prior to Beh’s departure, two funeral vans were seen leaving the department, believed to be carrying the bodies of Beh's loved ones.

In the early hours of Dec 16, a landslide occurred at Father’s Organic Farm near Batang Kali, Selangor.

There were 94 victims with 24 confirmed deaths - five boys, two girls, four men, and thirteen women killed. Nine more people are still missing, leaving 54 survivors, including seven who were reportedly suffering injuries.

Search and rescue efforts are still ongoing.
