Tok Mat to decide BN, Harapan seat negotiation in east coast - Zahid

Umno is entrusting its deputy president Mohamad Hasan to decide on seat allocations in Kelantan and Terengganu for the upcoming state elections.

Speaking to reporters after the party’s 77th-anniversary celebration tonight, its president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the outcome of the negotiation will be “interpreted to its best”.

Earlier, he was asked regarding seat allocation between Umno-BN and Pakatan Harapan to challenge PAS-Perikatan Nasional in the two east coast states.

“l’ll leave decision-making on negotiations to the wisdom of the Umno deputy president - who is also the BN deputy chairperson, and that wisdom will be interpreted to its best,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre today.

Zahid added that Umno-BN will listen to any views that Harapan may have regarding the seat allocation.

“We will hear any views from them,” he said when asked if Umno will consider allocating seats to Harapan in the two states.

During the 14th general election, Harapan failed to win any seats in the Kelantan and Terengganu state assemblies.

BN, on the other hand, won eight out of 45 state assembly seats in Kelantan, and 10 out of 32 seats in Terengganu.
