Bersatu postpones division, supreme council elections except at branches

Bersatu supreme council has agreed to postpone the election of divisions and the supreme council except at branches, for not more than 18 months, in accordance with clause 14.15 of the party's constitution.

Its secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said the agreement was reached after a supreme council meeting which Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin chaired yesterday.

"Bersatu is fully prepared to face the elections in six states that will take place soon with all the strength of the party machinery being streamlined involving all the states to become a powerful force," he said in a statement today.

Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are confident of a big win in the state elections by defending Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah and would work hard to capture Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang, he added.

Bersatu also invited the public to the PN Open House on May 21 at Raja Muda Musa Hall, Selangor State Youth and Cultural Complex, Section 7, Shah Alam from 8pm to 11pm.
