Father-daughter found drowned in Kepong lake

An elderly man and his adult daughter were found drowned at Tasik Metropolitan Kepong in Kuala Lumpur this morning.

The body of the woman, aged 30, was found floating on the surface while the man, 72, sank two metres to the bottom of the lake, police said.

Both bodies were found fully clothed and were taken out of the lake by the Fire and Rescue Department personnel, who were called to the scene at 10.21am today.

They are suspected to have died about an hour before that, Sentul district police chief Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said in a statement.

An eyewitness spotted the elderly man carrying the woman, who was unconscious, into the lake and did not heed the eye witness' calls, Ahmad Sukarno said.

Both the deceased's identification documents were found on site and their next of kin have been informed.

"Early investigations indicate no foul play," he said.

The bodies have been sent to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for post-mortem examination.

Police urge those with further information on the case to come forward.
