Peja denies sexual harassment claim, cries slander

Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu has denied an allegation that he sexually harassed a woman last week.

The former minister said he lodged a counter-report today against a police complaint from his accuser, regarding the alleged incident.

"I was told that the (initial) report contains allegations by an individual against me. In my report, I have stated that the allegations are completely untrue and I believe there are elements of criminal incitement and slander involved in the report.

"The report states the time, date, and location of the so-called 'interaction', but I have told the police that I was in Negeri Sembilan at that material time, carrying out official duties as the deputy president of Bersatu," Faizal (above), who's fondly known as Peja, said in a statement on Facebook today.

According to him, there were many witnesses who can attest to his alibi.

Faizal was responding to a 37-year-old clerk’s allegation that he had sexually harassed her.

Police report withdrawn

According to the woman, the incident happened at about 11am at Plaza Damas in Kuala Lumpur when Faizal allegedly verbally harassed her with a lecherous remark.

The woman claimed that he said, "Wow, geram tengok, rasa nak tarik masuk dalam toilet" (roughly translated into “Wow, what a figure, feel like pulling her into the toilet”).

Angered and embarrassed by the remark, the clerk consulted her husband before lodging a police report on the matter on the same day.

Brickfields district police chief Amihizam Abdul Shukor confirmed receiving the woman's report but said it was withdrawn on the same day.

Personal attacks

Elaborating, Faizal said that he has full confidence in the police to probe his report.

"I also have the right to take legal action against those involved.

"During the campaign season, let us only discuss politics and policies that can develop the country.

"Personal attacks such as this do not carry any benefit and it is an utter waste of time and resources of the police," he added.
